He came to Green Bay in 1996 to attend St. Norbert College, and has remained here ever since. It was at St. Norbert that Nick was introduced to radio. Initially a print journalism major, Nick signed on with campus radio, WSNC, for a two-hour talk show in the winter of his freshman year. He changed his major after just one show, though he has never abandoned his love for writing. He is presently working on a novel and hopes to one day publish a book of poetry. In addition to writing, Nick enjoys playing any and every sport imaginable. If he’s not out pounding the pavement, you can probably find him on the softball diamond or the basketball court, but don’t rule out the bowling alley. Nick even participated in a rodeo the summer of 2002, trying his luck in the bull riding competition. The advantage ultimately went to the 1800 pound Texas steer, Snowflake, but Nick did place second in the amateur division and proudly displays the belt buckle that proves it. If Nick is not participating, he is undoubtedly attending some sporting event. You have likely heard him at a St. Norbert College hockey game. Nick also volunteers his time and efforts with the Green Bay based organization Families of Children With Cancer. Nick’s weakness for children’s charities is well documented, and he is often lured into compromising situations with the simple phrase, “C’mon, Nicky…it’s for the kids.” Last Christmas, Nick agreed to be shocked with an electric dog collar to raise money for the organization. Nick’s greatest weakness, however, is the T.V. infomercial. If you can name a product, Nick probably has it, and with the exception of the Simoniz Car Washing Kit, Nick claims to have never been disappointed. Spend any amount of time with Nick and you will swiftly recognize that he loves life and gets the most out of all it has to offer. Ask him his philosophy and he’ll tell you: “never forego the opportunity to invest in the life of another. You never know to whose prayers you are the answer.” E-mail Nick at: Nick.Vitrano@1440wnfl.com
